I got paid

The other day, this showed up in my bank account. Hm! I wasn’t sure what it was at first. Then I remembered: CreateSpace changed its royalty terms so that you only need to earn $10 instead of $20 before they will send you a payment. Why, that means… I just became a paid author.

Most of the time I actually forget about the little book I published, Are We Lost Again? I’m focused on getting a novel finished so I can publish it, and my test drive doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. But in a way, it is a big deal. I’ve been published before in high school and college literary magazines and in an anthology of poetry by kids, but I’ve never gotten paid for my writing – until now. $18.44 isn’t much, but it’s a start.
